Stephanie + Allen at the Cannery Ballroom

Stephanie and Allen were married on July 23, 2011 at St. George’s and partied late into the night at the Cannery Ballroom.  When Stephanie and I first met, we struggled to come up with a name for the theme we were going for.  Eventually we dubbed it ‘Country Chic’ and ran with it!  The Cannery Ballroom is a blank canvas – exposed brick walls, wood beams, high ceilings.  Navy, butter yellow and gray were our color palette – with a little pop of coral here and there.

Corrie + Chris – W.O. Smith School of Music

As Chris & Corrie just celebrated their 1 year wedding anniversary, I think it’s time to get their wedding up on the blog!  These two are one of the most fun couples that you’ll ever meet – one look at them together and it’s easy to see that these two  not only love the heck out of one another, but they are the best of friends.  Corrie & Chris said their I Do’s at the beautiful chapel at Brentwood Baptist and then celebrated at W.O. Smith School of Music.  We brought in deep reds and oranges to fit the fall season, then added bright punches of hot pink and subtle brown to round out their color palette.

These two also share a huge mutual love for their dogs (as do I!) – they even included them in their engagement shoot!

Music has always been a huge part of Corrie’s life, so it was fitting that she’d have her wedding reception at a music school!  If you’ve never been inside W.O. Smith School of Music, you’re missing out!  Not only do they offer deeply discounted music lessons to under privileged children, but they have a stunningly modern facility that makes a gorgeous location for a wedding reception!  Corrie was not a ‘typical’ bride by a long shot – she wanted her reception to be fun and centered around their family and friends.  In lieu of floral centerpieces, guests were treated to centerpieces made of desserts – mini creme brulee, rice krispie treat pops, brownies, cookies – and of course an extensive candy bar.  Each centerpiece and item at the candy bar had a dedication from the bride and groom to a particular family member or friend whom had been influential in their lives.

Sarah + Tom at Carnton Plantation

When Sarah and I first met, I knew her wedding was destined to be gorgeous – she has fantastic style! Sarah’s color palette was navy, mustard/gold, lavender and ivory. Since we were working on a budget, we had to get creative when it came to decor items.  We wanted to bring in a lot of personal details to the wedding – primarily the Tom & Sarah’s love story.  Tom had been in the Middle East since early last year, met Sarah on a brief trip back home here, they kept in touch through letters, email and Skype – he sent her flowers on a weekly basis.  He proposed to her ‘unofficially’ over the summer when he sent her to Genesis Diamonds under the premise of picking up a watch he had ordered.  When she got there, the salesman told her to pick out which ring she wanted.  Tom came home for a week of leave in October 2010, and went home with Sarah to meet her family.  During a family photo session, Tom proposed to her in front of her whole family.  Because of the dangerous situation the groom is in (his job is basically what the guys in the movie the Hurt Locker did with bombs), they went ahead and got married at the courthouse. Their ‘real’ wedding was the one at Carnton Plantation in June.  We wanted to share their story, and did so by using the letters they sent to each other as part of the decor.

I tried to ‘upcycle’ as many things as I could do bringing in a green, environmentally conscious element as well.  All of the fabric flowers and pennants were made from old sheets purchased from Good Will.  The window was taken from an old house in Franklin.  Rather than using a ton of flowers (though the ones we did use from Melissa Marie Floral Designs were AMAZING), we went with fabric flowers for centerpieces and attached them to twigs from branches in my yard.  The glass vases were all old jelly, spaghetti sauce, pickle, salsa jars.  Rather than renting new dishes, Sarah collected vintage china plates from yard and estate sales and thrift stores. The guests were also invited to sign these plates & will serve as the couple’s Guest Book.   Sarah’s bouquet was made primarily from her grandmother’s vintage brooches – they served as her ‘something old’.   All of the drinking glasses were mason jars that were fitted with tags for guests to write their names on and claim for the evening.  The suitcases used as the altar were from the bride’s family and supported memorial candles in honor of the bride’s grandmother and the groom’s sister.

The wonderful Josh and Amber Ulmer of Ulmer Studios captured all of the sweet details and special moments of Tom & Sarah’s day.

Molly + Steve at Front Porch Farms

Molly and Steve may be the most in love couple I’ve ever met.  The relationship these two share is what I would wish for all of my brides and grooms to have!  On a crisp yet very windy April day, Molly and Steve exchanged the sweetest vows on the front lawn of Front Porch Farms in Charlotte, TN.  Surrounded by friends and family, they celebrated in a laid back reception centered around amazing gourmet food catered by The Turnip Truck and lots of great live music by The Ben Graves Trio.  The dynamic duo Josh & Amber Ulmer of Ulmer Studios captured the gorgeous images below….

Nashville Wedding Photographer, Krista Lee, Gets Hitched!

While meeting with Krista about a mutual client’s wedding, we got to talking about her own.  Being a few months out, she needed some help pulling it together, and if any of you have ever worked with Krista before, you know why I was so excited to work with her – she’s wonderful!  Krista and her handsome husband Clint tied the knot on April 2 at Oaklands Mansion in Murfreesboro, TN.  Enjoy the photos by the very talented (not to mention incredibly fun to work with!) Brooke Kelly.

A Christmas Wedding at the Country Music Hall of Fame

Something Blue...

June & Matt were married on Sunday, December 19th, 2010 at Parish Presbyterian Church in Franklin, TN with their gorgeous, holiday inspired reception following at the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Being so close to Christmas, it was hard not to have some holiday inspiration playing into this wedding.  With a lot of craftiness and a little holiday magic, we had a wonderful time pulling this wedding together with a great team of vendors!  Congratulations Matt & June (only about 10 month’s late! ;) )

A very late (or early?) new year’s resolution

I’m making an early new year’s resolution – I’m going to keep up with my blog!  I initially made this resolution at the beginning of 2011, but then I got busy with spring weddings, then summer weddings, then fall weddings….and now here I am 10 months later – blog post-less.  That’s about to change!  Over the next few weeks I will be updating the blog to show off the weddings of all the wonderful couples that I had the privilege of working with over the past year.  I hope you enjoy all that’s to come!

Foust/Burris Wedding – The Governor’s Club

Caroline and Stephen’s wedding was a classic southern ceremony at a the beautiful Pleasant Hill mansion at the Governor’s Club in Brentwood, TN.  Caroline wanted a nautical color scheme, so we stuck with navy, creme and khaki.  The ceremony was short and sweet to allow for plenty of party time.  Being that it was a major college football day, we set up a ‘man cave’, complete with a big screen TV, ice cream bar with Vanderbilt printed cups and fun facts about the couple scattered around the room.  Despite some very ominous looking storm clouds, we somehow managed to dodge all bad weather and the day was absolute perfection!

A great big thank you to the wonderful vendors who came together to make this day beautiful!

Behind is an understatement…

With all of the insanity of the holiday season and planning planning planning, I’ve gotten so far behind in my blog that it’s not even funny!  Over the next few weeks, I have big plans to catch up on updating Bridal Blueprints’ website and blogging about some of my favorite weddings of 2010!

You can expect to see:

  • A sweet southern wedding at The Governor’s Club
  • A whimsical wedding at W.O. Smith School of Music
  • A wintery wonderland wedding at the Country Music Hall of Fame

I’m so excited to share these with you.  2010 was a big year for Bridal Blueprints and so far 2011 is shaping up to be even bigger and busier than before.  So I’m a little late in saying this, but happy new year to all and here’s to wishing everyone a PHENOMENAL 2011!!!

Photography Themed Bridal Shower

This shower was inspired by one of my brides who is on a tight budget for her wedding. We have been getting creative in every way possible, especially when it comes to the budget. Rather than just registering for the typical china, towels and mixer, I thought it would be a good idea to set up a registry with the bride’s photographer so that guests could contribute gift cards towards the photographer’s fee. Running with the photography idea, I designed her shower around a black and white photography theme.

As the backdrop, I hung ribbon and ripped fabric in strips, and knotted it to create some texture. Since there was a window behind the strips, I used black and white curtains and hung them behind the window. I used tiles to create a film strip base over the top of the silver satin table cloth. The film strip was just enough to bring in the black and white and stick with my theme, but not go too over the top! An over sized engagement ring, some sparkly silver pillows and a vintage camera helped to pull the theme together.

To hang the letters of the backdrop, I pulled film out of the canister (it’s so cheap now that everything has gone digital!) and threaded it through the letters. It worked like a charm to hold the sign up around the champagne punch too!

Since the bride has a sweet tooth the size of Texas, everything at this shower was dessert, dessert, dessert! I tried to stick with sweets that weren’t too colorful – Mini Flourless Chocolate Tortes, Black and White Cookies, Brownies, Crispy Treat Balls, Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Cheesecake Pops.
